[Thursday 10 October] Local rail operator Trenitalia c2c has partnered with Southend United Football Club and Mind to raise awareness of the importance of mental health and well-being.
To mark this year’s World Mental Health Day (10 October), c2c has partnered with Southend United Football Club and South-East & Central Essex Mind (SECE Mind) to help raise awareness of mental health and well-being through a special film.
The short film, which highlights the many benefits of joining together with friends and family to watch and play sports, also provides information on the many mental health support services available in the local area.
With footage from Southend’s dedicated ‘Match for Mind’ with Maidenhead United last Saturday – where colleagues from c2c were on hand to welcome fans to the game – the film also includes highlights of a special c2c team training session put on by Southend United’s Head Coach, Kevin Maher, and his assistants Darren Currie and Mark Bentley, on the Roots Hall pitch.
Commenting, c2c Managing Director, Rob Mullen, said:
“We are proud and honoured to have joined with our partners at Southend United and Mind to raise awareness and support for World Mental Health Day and the mental health services available in the local areas we all serve.
“Through our partnership with the football club, we are reaching out to our communities, colleagues, customers and partners to remind them that by joining together, we are stronger”.
Rob added:
“Our team training session with Kevin and Southend United provided a timely reminder of the important role that physical exercise, team sports, togetherness, camaraderie and friendship can have in improving our mental health and well-being.”
World Mental Health Day, an initiative of the World Health Organisation, is celebrated every year on 10 October to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilise efforts in support of mental health.
Kevin Maher, Head Coach at Southend United, said:
“Mental health is just as crucial as physical health, and it’s something we often take for granted. Through sport, teamwork and the wider community, we can help people feel supported and connected.
“I was pleased to be able to put on a training session for the staff at c2c; it is a great reminder that we’re all in this together”.
Kevin added:
“We should never feel alone when facing life’s challenges. Together, we can make a real difference.”
The film concludes with a powerful, but important, message: This World Mental Health Day, remember, together, we are stronger.
