Local rail operator Trenitalia c2c has published details on the temporary withdrawal of car parking spaces at some of its south Essex stations, while essential maintenance works are carried out.
c2c has announced that a number of parking spaces at its Southend Central, Westcliff, Leigh-on-Sea and Shoeburyness car parks are being temporarily withdrawn over the coming months, while essential maintenance works are carried out at stations.
The full list of affected stations and the temporary removal of car parking spaces is as follows:
Southend Central – Platform repair works are taking place from Friday 15 November to Monday 16 December, this will mean that a large section of the station car park is withdrawn from customer and public use.
- During this period, 54 car parking spaces (instead of 250) will be available on Mondays to Fridays, with 25 spaces provided at weekends.
Leigh-on-Sea – Due to essential structural maintenance works being undertaken by Network Rail at Chalkwell, an area of the Leigh-on-Sea station car park will be used as an access point (by contractors) and for storage purposes from Wednesday 13 November to Friday 20 December.
- During this period, 41 car parking spaces will be withdrawn on Mondays to Fridays (reducing the capacity from 390 to 349 cars), with 77 spaces removed at weekends.
Shoeburyness – Platform canopy repair works will be taking place between Wednesday 13 November and Tuesday 17 December, resulting in 6 car parking spaces being withdrawn.
- 78 of the usual 84 car parking spaces will be available to customers and the public.
Westcliff – Platform resurfacing works will be taking place from Monday 25 November to Friday 20 December, with three car parking spaces withdrawn as a result.
- 36 of 39 car parking spaces will be available to customers and the public.
Commenting, c2c’s Head of Customer Experience, Amandeep Sogi, said: “c2c would like to apologise for any inconvenience that the temporary withdrawal of car parking spaces at our stations in the Southend area may cause customers.
“We are working closely with our appointed maintenance contractors to ensure that any disruption is kept to a minimum and that all works are completed on time.”
Amandeep added: “Customers who are regular users of c2c’s station car parks, or heavily reliant on these facilities, are advised to check the c2c app or website for the availability of parking spaces prior to making their journey.”
